The oriental Hanoi with tree shadowed roads, French style old buildings, lovely parks and museums, and Sapa with signature high mountains, beautiful terraced rice paddies, cool weather, and is home to several ethnic minorities as well as Halong Bay just recognized as new world wonder are must see destinations when travelling to Vietnam.

Detailed program

Day 1: Hanoi Arival
Our guide and driver will pick you up at airport and then transfer to Hanoi center to check in hotel. The rest of day, you are free & easy. Overnight at the hotel in Hanoi

Day 2: Hanoi City Tour – Nighttrain to Lao Cai (B, L)
Breakfast at hotel. Pick you up at hotel at 08:00 am. Starting day trip by visiting Ho Chi Minh Complex which comprises of Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum (closed on Mondays & Fridays), his former stilt-house residence, the Presidential Palace and the Ho Chi Minh museum. Next, visit the Temple of Literature constructed in 1070 to worship Confucius and served as the first Royal National University in Vietnam. This is also the place to honor 82 Vietnamese doctorates who had passed through a number of rigid exams in feudal ages. Their names, birthdays and birthplaces are engraved in 82 headstones perched on crafted tortoises. It is well believed that touching the heads of these tortoises will bring luck. Its peaceful and green settings with nicely maintained lawns, gardens and lotus ponds make it a great hideaway from the city bustle and heat. Lunch at the local restaurant.
In the afternoon, tour to Museum of Ethnology (closed on Mondays & visit History museum alternative) which offers informative and well-documented display on the country’s 54 ethnic groups, include elaborate and colorful hill-tribal costumes. The display continues on to the outside garden with fascinating examples of traditional houses from the Kinh’s to the ones of the ethnic groups in Central Highlands. Afterward, head to Ngoc Son Temple set on a tiny island in the middle of Hoan Kiem Lake. The Ngoc Son temple dates back to the 13th century, and the lake itself is a picturesque focal point of Hanoi, frequented by tourists and locals alike. The last is Water Puppet Show. Then you are free until transferring to the station to catch night train to Lao Cai departing at 20:30 pm. Overnight on train

Day 3: Lao Cai – Sapa – Cat Cat (B, L)
Arrive in Lao Cai early morning around 06:00am, transfer by private car to Sapa (40km from Lao Cai). Enjoy breakfast before we explore the Sapa town & market founded by the French. Chat with minority children in market.
Have lunch at the local restaurant. In the afternoon around 13:30 pm our guide will take you to Cat Cat village, visit the French existing hydro - electric power station beside the Cat Cat waterfall. Study the way H’Mong villagers make their own hamp clothes, grow rice and corn. See the show of minority people - traditional dance and singing. Go back to Sapa on foot. Overnight at the hotel in Sapa

Day 4: Lao Chai & Ta Van – Lao Cai – Nighttrain back Hanoi (B, L)
After having breakfast, we start our walk by descending into the valley, which is the largest rice paddy terraced among Sapa area. The guide can provide you interesting information about rice. If you visit the valley sometime in between May and October, you will be able to observe and experience how the local do planting and harvesting, one of the most important activities in the daily life. The walk takes you from Lao Chai village of Black Hmong minority to Ta Van village of Giay minority including a visit to the local Catholic Church. After visiting Ta Van the car will return you to Sapa. You are free until transferring to Lao Cai, en route we visit the Tra Ma village, home to Black Hmong ethnic people. Transfer by car to Lao Cai railway station for night train to Hanoi. Overnight on the train.

Day 5: Hanoi – Halong (B, L, D)
Early morning around 05:30am, you arrive at Hanoi train station. Pick you up at the station and then transfer to mini-hotel (2star) for freshen up and have breakfast, then start a 3-hour drive through the Red River Delta to Ha Long City (180km from Hanoi). Comfort stop en route for photos and coffee before arriving to Ha Long City. We then transfer to a refurbished wooden sailing junk for a cruise through the limestone cliffs and emerald waters of Ha Long Bay, giving us the chance to take in the stunning scenery of this World Heritage Site. While on board we will be served a sumptuous fresh, local seafood lunch followed by a swim and exploring some of the limestone caves in this area. When the sun comes down we drop anchor for the night nearby a remote island. Dinner on board. Overnight on Junk

Day 6: Halong – Hanoi – Departure (Brunch)
Rising to the tranquil beauty of the bay we have time for an early morning dip with joys and emotions for watching sunrise on sea followed by breakfast. This morning we continue to move around the bay to find more secluded areas. The junk will be near us at all times serving as a backup vessel for those that require it. At around midday we will return to the main harbor before transferring to our awaiting vehicle for a 3-hour journey to Noi Bai airport for flight to next destination. End of services

Cave of Surprise
